The mobile phone has become the bane of the wedding photographers life. I have been paid to capture beautiful images of the happy couple, the congregation, happy smiling faces, the love of the day, the fun the laughter..... but this can sometimes prove difficult when you have people also taking photos on their phones, standing in-front of you as you set up the shot, start taking selfies, holding up their phone or tablet during the service, checking Facebook during the hymns. The worst being as the bride and groom walk down the isle, this is a magical time to capture 'that' love, the glances, the seeming smiles, but all this cane lost in a sea of mobile phones... not so magical now!
Do you know what your face looks like when you are checking your phone? Its looks bored, your eyes glaze over, some people look scary, but most people look disinterested.... Do you want THAT face to appear on your friends treasured wedding photos?
So many amazing shots have been spoilt by a mobile phone, friends laughing together but another friend is updating their status, and look bored.... such a shame.
So PLEASE.. leave your phone at home... or stop notifications, or leave it in your car or bag. STOP checking it. Enjoy the day that someone has taken great pains to ensure is a magical day filled with love and laughter.
Let the photographer do their job... let them capture the day.
