To the Lonesome Pine,
You signify home to me - you stand on your own by Brynteg Castle - a rocky outcrop that juts out overlooking the beautiful Cothi Valley.
You stood by yourself for years, your irregular shape silhouetted against the sky line, you didn't seem well, in fact you looked dead, your leaves never going green, no life.
But now, 20 years on, the larch that were planted to fill in the hill below you are now starting to obscure you from my valley view, however, you have come love again! Your branches are full of green life, on your bottom half, but you are still bare in the top! But this is what makes you stand out.
I would love to know why you grow like this... I wonder what your story is?
I still dream that if one day I get married I will do so by you, you will be my alter.
Stay strong, live long, Lonesome Pine. 💚
